1. Terrasse - Start with a coffee and a croissant at Terrasse - right on the River Aare. The strong blue current will rush around you as the crisp air fills your lungs. It’s the perfect way to inspire the day ahead!

Stroll right off the deck and head East along the riverbank. You’ll enjoy a delightful walk across the Aare from central Bern, through a shady wooded path.

Bears are a big deal in Bern, this one is looking for breakfast in Bärengraben - the Bear Park.

2. Bear Pit - As the river turns north, take a peek at Bärengraben - the Bear Park and Pit, and learn how Bern got its name from these curious creatures: a joy to watch! The park is tiered up the bank so you can look from multiple angles, and at feeding time the pit provides an excellent opportunity to see the playful bears up close.

3. Cathedral of Bern - There is a bridge next to this park, cross it East and search the skyline for the Cathedral of Bern - the tallest cathedral in the country! Check it out, and the fun courtyard behind it with a spectacular view over the city.

4. Walk the city center - Just a bit North of this, stroll through the old city, initially founded in the 12th century. This is a UNESCO Heritage site, and its appearance has been maintained since the 1800s. Keep East and marvel at the Parliament Building, especially the gorgeous view off the back promenade!

5. Bellevue Terrace - Thirsty yet? Head next door to the exclusive Bellevue Palace hotel, and have a craft cocktail on its picturesque terrace.

6. Freibad Marzili - Time to cap off this wonderful day with a splash! Descend towards the river and head south to the Freibad Marzili. You’ll find swimming pools, lawns, and steps into the river! Be sure to bring a suit so you don’t miss the fun: let the cool waters tantalize your skin and carry you gently downstream!
